Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared in every 12 seasons of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to the next throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, her family relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling, later learning that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school in her community and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in several classes during her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
